◎简　　介　

　　将军麦克白（奥逊·威尔斯 Orson Welles 饰）跟随国王邓肯（Erskine Sanford 饰）南征北战，是后者最信赖的所在。某日，麦克白又赢得了一场战争，在归国的途中遇见了三个女巫，女巫们预言麦克白即将进官加爵，甚至可以带上王冠继承王位。然而，麦克白的继位者却并非他的孩子，而是他的好友班柯将军（Edgar Barrier 饰）的儿子。
　　这一预言在麦克白的内心里蒙上了阴影，在妻子麦克白夫人（Jeanette Nolan 饰）的怂恿之下，麦克白杀死了邓肯，将罪责家伙在两个守卫的身上。之后，他又将班柯和麦克德夫夫人（Peggy Webber 饰）一一杀害。在此过程中，双手沾满鲜血的麦克白，他的精神也濒临着崩溃的边缘。
