　　影片改编自2008年震惊美国的“凯西·安东尼杀女案”。时年22岁的凯西·安东尼被控谋杀自己2岁的亲生女儿凯莉。无论是媒体还是公众都一致认为凯西·安东尼有罪确凿无疑，然而经过漫长的庭审，凯西·安东尼最终无罪开释。全美舆论一片哗然。该案随之成为美国司法史上继”辛普森杀妻案“之后又一个”悬案“。
　　本片从当时负责该案的联邦检察官Jeff Ashton（罗伯·劳 饰）的角度，探究案件隐藏在重重迷雾后的事实真相。
