　　2065年，美国退役宇航员杰夫·特雷西(比尔·帕克斯顿)和他的5个儿子组成了一支名为“雷鸟”的太空救援队。他们利用火箭等运输工具去帮助那些遇到麻烦的人们。火箭飞船设计天才布莱恩斯(安东尼·爱德华兹)以及可爱女郎佩妮洛普(索非亚·迈尔斯)等人则是“雷鸟”们忠实的伙伴。这些人凭着善良和勇气令无数人脱离险境。
　　 一次，亚里斯托特尔·斯波德(本·金斯利)统领下的邪恶集团攻击了杰夫等人所居住的小岛。而这场精心策划的阴谋目的是为了利用“雷鸟”来从事犯罪。于是，一场惊心动魄的大战开始了。
