按照尼克·巴科夫著小说改编
　人们总是难以顺从《郁闷星期天》的哀痛情调，本来这首歌与一段复杂凄美的恋爱故事有关。上世纪30年月的匈牙利都城布达佩斯的一个餐馆里，美丽的伊洛娜（艾丽卡·莫露珊 Erika Marozsán 饰）同时被两个汉子深爱着。一个是餐厅老板，另一个是钢琴师。三小我都并不愿意改变现况，打破平衡，伊洛娜同时具有两个汉子的爱而深感安静幸运。钢琴师为她创作出《郁闷星期天》，他和餐厅也是以一鸣惊人。
　　但是，汉斯的出现完全扑灭了这一切。他已经是一个知名小子，深深迷上《郁闷星期天》 的同时，更是成为伊洛娜的裙下之臣。汉斯向伊洛娜求婚，却被拒绝，满腔恨意的他现在成了军官，风光无穷，正带着他蓄谋已久的复仇计划来到伊洛娜身旁，给他们的生活以致命一击。爱、复仇与战争的故事，在布达佩斯纠结上演。


匈牙利作曲家Rezso Seress（1899—1968）在1930年创作了《郁闷的星期天》（Gloomy Sunday），这首曲子相当凄美，正值第二次天下大战时代刊行，传播很多㊟㊟案跟其有关；作者尼克·巴可（Nick Barkow）借由来自这一作曲家的事务的灵感，撰写了一本浪漫小说，尔后导演按照小说改编拍摄了这部电影。
