　　在众多由韦斯．克雷文导演的恐怖片之中，本片是取材和风格较特殊的一部，显现出他的创作野心，但制作成绩不太均衡。埃弗里特．麦吉尔和温蒂．罗比饰演一对古怪邪恶的房东，当十三岁的少年布兰登．陆亚当斯为了他的卧病的母众亲不致被驱离贫民区的住房而来求情时，竟被房东和他们的女儿拘禁在房子里加以逼害。此片的故事可以说是一则社会寓言，对那些富人剥削穷人的劣行加以批判，但导演风格在恐怖片和寓言片之间摆荡不定，有时更拍出了喜剧效果，相当的复杂，但就娱乐性而言还是不错的。
