　　名声大噪的神㊟㊟简（简·拉塞尔 Jane Russell 饰）被州长从监狱里秘密放出，作为获得赦免的条件，简接受了一项卧底任务。她要前往迪尔费尔德保找一个名叫吉姆的男人，与他假扮成夫妻，秘密接近非法倒卖军火的印第安人。可是，当简抵达了目的地后才发现，吉姆早已经暴露了身份，遭到了杀害，这也就意味着她的身份也曝光了，果不其然，简很快就遭到了敌人的追杀。
　　
　　在误打误撞之中，简跳上了牙医波特（鲍勃·霍普 Bob Hope 饰）的马车，不忍心看到漂亮的姑娘落难，波特决定向简伸出援手。最终，两人不仅躲过了追杀，逮捕了罪犯，还在此过程中碰撞出了爱情的火花。
