　　这部一小时时长的纪录片《启明》再现了中国农村两户普通农民家庭的顽强奋斗精神和他们对于生活的憧憬：一位年轻的女学生不顾自己脚部骨头常年深度感染而毅然决然追逐自己成为一名大学生和艺术家的梦想；而她在窑洞中居住了六十载的奶奶从未因为白内障造成的失明而放弃在田间的劳作；另一个双目失明的男孩尽管失去了观察世界的能力但仍然梦想成为一名卡车司机，他始终保持着乐观的心态；一名眼科医生为了他的流动医院而不得不多次搬家以节省资金。
　　影片讲述了以城市为中心的经济发展背后一些普通人的故事。通过电影镜头探讨了成千上万没有被大潮席卷的人的生活以及他们如何为基本生存奋斗的历程。他们是没有完全享受公共医疗和教育的一群人。在当今的媒体宣传中，我们看到的是那些有关中国崛起的故事，而有些偏远农村人群为生存奋斗的故事细节却鲜为人知, 而这些故事确实可以使我们每个人感动。这部电影勾勒的不仅仅是中国偏远农村的画面，它也向我们的观众展示了当人们面对来自社会和经济的巨大挑战时是如何满怀希望和自强不息的。
