　　【灵魂男孩】是一部呈现1970年代英国北方灵魂乐时尚(Northern Soul:一种曲调轻快，融合采撷自非裔美籍种族音乐的重节拍灵魂乐，或是Motown音乐元素的类型音乐，英国乐坛公认对日後舞曲文化与DJ文化有深远影响)的电影，影片以当时孕育此一时尚与音乐的英国兰开夏郡的传奇夜店The Wigan Casino为主体，剧情描述置身在裁员、㊟㊟与足球看台上青少年纷争的成长环境下的乔麦肯，过着前途茫茫的无聊人生，直到他遇见发型造型师珍，才开始有了改变，两人在The Wigan Casino通宵达旦的跳舞气氛中体验到英国北方灵魂乐的新节奏与新浪潮，俏丽动人的艺术家曼蒂负责为乔打造最酷的时尚造型，曼蒂情不自禁的爱上乔，乔必须在这道爱情的三角习题中理出他的未来。
