　　本吉的妈妈在小狗工厂遭遇了危险的处境，坚强勇敢的本吉集结了它的一众好友帮助它完成一次营救计划。
　　本片是一部非常可爱的家庭娱乐产品，是个老少咸宜的轻松幽默小品。和先前的影片一样，电影从小狗本吉的观察角度讲述故事，没有任何人工修饰--没有讲话的小狗，动画特效或者是旁白。新本吉的故事同《本吉回归：麻雀变凤凰》有着相同的背景，它可能是影史上第一部真正意义上的“狗朋友”电影。

　　故事中充满了欢乐、幽默和伤感，充满了悬而未决的论点。从一只狗的观察角度去叙述故事这种形式是新奇独到的，因为这是一部没有旁白和会讲话动物的电影，因此拍摄任务变得异常艰巨。这部关于本吉的影片把“本吉”的概念提升到一个新的基准。先前的“本吉”电影在表达本吉的情感、反抗人类或者适应形势的过程中总是产生缺陷。这是本吉第一次与另一只狗合作出演并产生互动作用，与其合演的搭档是与本吉个性截然相反的小狗Lizard Tongue。本片没有好莱坞片中惯有的特效，紧张的节奏等等，导演坎普的宗旨是与众不同，这也是他和制作班底的制胜法宝。
