简　　介

　　干练勇敢的瓦莱丽（娜奥米·沃茨 Naomi Watts 饰）是CIA“打击核扩散”部门的一名秘密特工，正受命在伊拉克调查大规模杀伤性武器的存在可能，然而调查中却根本没发现任何正在进行的核武器计划，这与很多美国官员预期的结果大相径庭。瓦莱丽的丈夫乔（西恩·潘 Sean Penn 饰）是一名外交官，被委托在非洲调查当地是否曾向伊拉克贩卖浓缩铀，而其结果也与瓦莱丽一样，毫无发现相关迹象，随后，乔在《㊟㊟》发表了社论，详细阐述了他的调查结果，没想到却引发了一场极其激烈的舌战。瓦莱丽也受到了致命的牵连，她的特工身份很快被泄露给了一名华盛顿时事记者，她在海外的工作变得寸步难行，甚至危及到自身和同事的安全，家人朋友也无法承受地离她而去。这究竟是个偶然还是刻意陷害？面临工作和生活即将崩溃的边缘，瓦莱丽不得不忍辱奋力站起，以单薄的身体对抗这一切背后强大的阴谋……
