　　圣诞节将至，某市殖民银行分行的员工正在紧张忙碌，同时全新等待节日的到来。该行负责人福德斯（皮特·科辛 Peter Cushing 饰）是个严肃古板、对待下属甚至家人都极其刻薄的男人。这天早晨，福德斯迎来一位不速之客，对方宣称是家庭与事业保险公司的官员，被称作赫本上校（安德烈·莫瑞尔 André Morell 饰）。福德斯对其毕恭毕敬，唯恐忤逆了这名严肃而张扬的官员。但他不久便得知，赫本原来是一个银行大盗。赫本似乎挟持了福德斯的妻儿，并以她们的生命安全胁迫福德斯交出银行现有的9万7千美金。为了保护妻儿，一向傲慢的福德斯只得低头，成了赫本的同犯……
