　　千古第一㊟㊟潘金莲（王祖贤饰）身首异处，魂赴阴曹，却念念不忘报仇雪恨。过奈何桥之际推翻孟婆汤，纵身跳入轮回的未知。今世正值文革动乱，芭蕾舞团的翘楚单玉莲（王祖贤饰）惨遭团长㊟㊟，下放农村造鞋厂。一心只求宁静生活，却一再被宿命折磨的可怜女子注定了一生的颠沛流离。由内陆辗转香江，生命中先后出现的3个男人武龙（林俊贤饰）、武汝大（曾志伟饰）、Simon（单立文饰）似乎都只是前世的梦影。凄苦命运是否仍要重演，身处现代的飘零女子是否仍将走上千年前的老路？所谓的报仇雪恨是否真能如愿？爱恨交织的不了情又将何去何从？
　　
　　1989年上映，改编自香江名笔李碧华的同名小说的《潘金莲之前世今》在小心延续了该作妖艳诡异又不乏深邃犀利风格的同时，不可避免加入了港片诸多商业元素。但在注重娱乐性的同时，也将焦点放在了对人性以及女性细腻心理的探索上。镜头语言丰富，画面亦幻亦真，两个不同时空的影像交织，使信息的传达更富感性色彩。值得一看。
