　　记录了从2002年~2004年期间，联合国维和部门在应对刚果共和国的内战危机的整个过程，开始部分以美国总统布什在联合国的一段演讲开始(是9/11之后，美国寻求联合国支持的演讲)，“Will the UN address the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant”(译：联合国是否会实现自己成立的初衷，还是置身事外呢？)，暗示了联合国的维和任务责任重大。
　　
　　刚果内战5年，各个武装派系为争夺黄金和钻石等矿藏而争斗，屠杀村庄里的妇女/儿童也司空见惯。为了使刚果不成为第二个卢旺达，联合国维和机构的工作人员艰难得工作着，为了说服各个成员国捐钱，出兵，UN工作人员不仅需要承担极大的心理压力，同时也得冒着生命危险去刚果的难民营获取第一手资料。而联合国的5大成员国行动缓慢，法国作为前宗主，有这语言以及丰富的管理经验和足够的部队以实现维和任务，但法国只愿意出兵3个月，维护自己利益相关的部分，三个月后撤军，联合国在此面临资金和人员空缺的尴尬局面，唯独乌拉圭派遣了一支小部队，但实力太弱小了，保护UN在刚果的总部都岌岌可危。
　　
　　纪录片给观众展示了联合国维和人员艰辛的工作，在2年时间内，刚果局势初见稳定，但仍然需要各成员国的积极参与。
　　
　　就如俚语说的，铁链的强度，是看它最弱的那一环。联合国维和的成果，也需要联合国各成员国共同努力。
